SCG Receives Inaugural Performances in Public Spaces Grant from City of Philadelphia

Sister Cities Girlchoir is thrilled to announce that we were selected to receive a grant from the Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy Performances in Public Spaces program. The program funds performances by artists and arts organizations in public parks and plazas throughout the city of Philadelphia. SCG was one of 23 organizations selected from an application pool of 79 to receive the grant.

Mayor Michael Nutter said, “I am looking forward to seeing how these performances make use of the diverse, dynamic spaces in the city and the way the public responds to and engages with these performances in non-traditional locations. We hope that this program will demonstrate the breadth and vitality of Philadelphia’s artistic community, encourage people to explore their interests in performance art and inspire continued creative use of public spaces beyond this program.”

The grant will enable Sister Cities Girlchoir to present its finale concert at the RiverStage at Penn’s Landing on Saturday, May 16th, 2015. Look for more details in the coming weeks.
