We are so excited! We will be hosting the Arbonne Charitable Foundation at our Saturday Academy on January 14th for a special workshop on nutrition and health. SCG has been a grant recipient of the Foundation for 3 years, receiving both product and monetary support. This workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Kensington located at 418 E Girard Avenue in Philadelphia.
SCG’s mission is to empower girls through musical training, but we also aim to provide education and training in all areas of a well-rounded, successful, and healthy life. This aligns perfectly with ACF’s mission to provide support for programs that promote the development of confidence and self-esteem in teenage girls and boys.
Julia Smart, Development Coordinator for ACF, says “It has been an absolute pleasure to support Sister Cities Girlchoir these last few years. SCG is making an incredible change in their community. It’s clear that the self-esteem in these young ladies continues to grow because of the amazing programs SCG offers and we are so grateful to them for being Champions for Change.”
Anne Dugan, a teaching artist for SCG and an Arbonne representative, is leading the workshop with other volunteers from the health and wellness organization. They will be teaching the girls about nutrition while demonstrating how to make healthy smoothies with food provided by SCG. Each girl will go home with gift bags of skin care and beauty products from the vegan-certified company.
Special thanks to the Arbonne Charitable Foundation and the consultant volunteers for coming to share good nutrition tips with us. We work hard at Girlchoir and need ALL the energy, focus, and good sleep that healthy food gives us to bring our SING!
