Sister Cities in Residence at Artyard

Before Sister Cities Girlchoir officially kicks-off the SIXTH season of Song and Girl Power on September 16th, there’s a great experience in the works for 10 purple girls!

Artistic Director, Alysia Lee will take a delegation of Travel Choir singers on a fall retreat to Frenchtown, N.J, where they will be artists-in-residence at ArtYard.

Artyard (, a contemporary art center that was founded by a group of artists from many mediums, has a mission to be an “incubator for creative expression and a catalyst for collaborations that reveal the transformational power of art.”

During this powerful weekend our team of singers will be lead by an artist to design and build 8 ft tall wearable sculptures. These enormous puppets will make their first appearance at concert on Saturday Oct 28th for our  Performances in Public Spaces in partnership with the City of Philadelphia.

The team will also have a Frenchtown performance debut on September 9th at ArtYard. The girls are the opening act for acclaimed  poet, Aracelis Girmay. Ms. Girmay is a 2011 grant award winner from the NEA and a winner of the Whiting Award for Poetry in 2015.  More information and reservations for the free performance can be found HERE.
