On Saturday November 10th, 10 of our Travel Choir girls were gifted with a magical evening at ArtYard in Frenchtown, NJ. ArtYard is an gallery, performance space and “an incubator for creative expression” with the goal of using art to transform. It’s a special place and our girls have been lucky to have experiences with artists and performers there in the last 2 years.
After arriving, touring the art gallery, posing for some pics and feasting on dinner we were in the audience for a spectacular one man show by Joe Orrach. Joe’s piece, entitled “In My Corner” beautifully blends his talents; acting, tap dance, boxing and some salsa dancing with live music and singing, to tell the story of a Puerto Rican–Italian kid from the Bronx. Not only were we entranced by his performance but we also had the opportunity to ask him questions in the talk-back and learn about his creative process.
It was a night to remember and the girls were buzzing all the way home to Philadelphia! Many thanks to ArtYard for sharing this opportunity with us!
